When you say the steering is 'wobbly',is it the steering wheel shaking when you drive it or does the wheel judder if you try and turn it?.

What noise did you have and what bracket was loose?
This is not a permanent problem in that it is occasional - feels like a light wobble most of the time but becomes quite heavy at times pulling to right and left. is noticeable as quite heavy in the wheel at times. Had this in a Fiat once shortly before the wheel came off. Quite concerned. shaky when driven but not 100% of time. getting worse.

the bracket noise was more noticeably heard through the driver window [noisy beggers diesels] was like a machine gun in short bursts. Cost me nearly replacement of a water pump I believe was never needed ! loose bracket was power steering pump bracket.
