these engines really are very easy to service. get a haynes manual to help you. if you dont fancy doing the timing belt yourself, fair enough, get a good indie machanic to do that. once you have changed the oil , air filter, oil filter. fuel filter, pollan filter and spark plugs yourself you will wonder why you ever bothered paying someone. halfords now do regassing if you have air con. you get a brake check and safety check at every mot so you could just give these a quick check yourself.
ps. the 54k service for my wifes mitsubishi outlander has been quoted at nearly 800 by the main dealers.
