OK winter has officially arrived. It was -9 degrees Celsius last night and the place is covered with snow and ice only another 6 months until the whole lot melts away.
I discovered that the central locking cold problem is in the remote key. Whenever it gets cold i.e. about 3 degrees or below the key will not work. The LED stops flashing which seems to indicate no output signal and the locks will not open. If however I keep the key warm on the way to the car it works first time no problem.
In addition, while the key is in the ignition it cools especially if it is very cold in the car. When I try and lock the car it will not work at all.
I am going to look into ways of insulating the inside of the key around the PCB and the battery housing. I need to find a way of doing this without affecting the output signal from the key.
Any suggestions are welcome.
