Sport Tourer got it spot on - low angle of sun.
It's also due, in part, to a design fault by Renault
I had my light / rain sensor checked and reset by the dealer a couple of weeks ago.
I thought it was due to condensation trapped between the sensor and the windscreen (my lights would come on first thing in a morning if the car was covered in condensation). According to the dealer it is a known fault....of sorts.
It can't really be fixed. The only workaround is to deactivate the auto lights before pressing the start button but as we are well into autumn now (apparently
??) driving to work in the dark and driving home again in the dark, you'll just have to learn to live with it I'm afraid.
