Cancelling ECU fault report

I recently replaced the low pressure fuel pump on a Scenic DCi, apart from being very expensive (221.21) the car now runs fine. The problem is that the engine computer ( ECU ) still reports the fault with an illuminated 'STOP' showing. My friendly Renault garage will cancel this for me for a further charge of 45 which I am loath to pay. Does anyone know of a way to cancel ECU faults without paying the 'DIY penalty fee' to the garage ??
