I get 22 mpg in town, 35mpg at 65-70 on m/way and that's in a 7 year old Laguna 2.0 Auto.
Renault Automatic gear ratios strike me as being crap, and it's worse with a cold engine. My Lag needs to go at least 2 miles on a cold engine before the auto box will shift up to 4th at 40mph on a level road.
The worst bit is that it won't select 3rd gear below 30mph - and the difference between 31mph in third and 29mph in 2nd is 40% more fuel consumption.
Could this be because the ratios are designed for French roads? A 50kph limit in France is 31.25mph, at which point the Autobox is in 3rd. In our 30mph speed limits, I'm stuck in 2nd.
