Lawyers argue over points of law primarily, using precedent and legislation to back up their own case (weaken the other parties). Its not necessarily right vs wrong - oh that it were so simple, we could all be lawyers.
I totally agree. Jurisprudence can be terribly demanding.... and conflicting too, at times.
My counsel (London chambers) told me I didn't stand a chance in a recent dispute (and quoted several cases and established principles) but I did some digging and hey presto! I won £6k
