Laguna ignition card key failed

The plastic ignition card key has failed on my Laguna. It unlocks and runs the car, but refuses to lock. It rattles when shaken, so it appears to be a mechanical failure of the switch mechanism inside the key.

My local Renault dealer wants to charge me 67 + VAT for a new key (which has to be matched to the chasis) and 37.50 + VAT to program the key to the car.

Is there a cheaper solution to solving this problem ?
