Clio 1.2 cambelt change shouldn't be that dear to get done.
1.2 8v and 16v are only single camshaft engines.
Much easier to do than the twin cam engines.

Unless it was changed this morning, a visual inspection won't help.
If the waterpump outlet looks old, it probably hasn't been done recently. Usually gets changed at same time as belt.

Budget for a full timing belt kit, waterpump and antifreeeeeeeze. Brrrr.

Can be done DIY if you know what you're doing.

Headgaskets are a little prone to faliure but if there are no signs and it runs well, I wouldn't worry about it.
It presumably hasn't been thrashed so should have had an easy life.

Suspension parts prone to wear and corrosion like most small cars so at least a long MOT would be nice.

Sump pans can corrode and leak if bad enough. Not the end of the world though.

2 working keys would be VERY nice.
Get radio code if available.

Parts are cheap and plentiful for these but all the little jobs can add up unless you do some work yourself.

All clios are prone to raining in and minor electrical faults.
Check carpets for damp and rooflining for water stains.
Worst fault re electrics is dodgy immobiliser system but you get that with any car these days.

If it starts, runs and drives well with no obvious problems, go for it.

All 1994-2000 era Micras,Puntos and Corsas ect are no better.
Basically there all cr@p and rot away underneath.

What price does she want???
