I had a similar fault with my Lag II- it turned out to be a non Renault wheel bearing that was the culprit. The abs works by sensing magnets built into the wheel bearing and mine stopped being sensed by the sensor and hence there was no abs. The speedo also takes it's drive from the N/S/F abs sensor (no mechanical drive, electronic only) so that would explain that. The only difference is the handbrake light- I don't remember that being on in mine, but bear in mid this also shows a low brake fluid level, or it might just be coincidental or showing a generalised braking fault.
