Re: Replacing Renault Clio III door lock

Ok, finally got the lock fixed and working this afternoon after several more hours spent trying to figure this out. In hind site I probably should have just taken it into Renault but at 155ish I was after a saving. This is for anyone who is interested or has the same problem.
There is a tension spring housed in the white plastic part situated behind the door handle. This had sprung out of place when the lock was removed. For the spring to be positioned correctly the plastic unit was removed and pressure applied to the spring during repositioning. This allows the door handle to spring back into position after opening.
The cable which connects to the plastic white part now needs attaching (can be awkward).
The mechanism still wouldn't unlock, however the cable connecting the locking mechanism and the white plastic part would have obstructed the window's movement. This cable was pulled upwards and moved to the side so that the window would miss the cable. This repositioning provided the extra tension on the cable to open the door after unlocking.
Hope that makes sense and that it helps anyone with the same or similar problem.
