Re: Renault Clio - Electronics - Immobiliser issues

Hondo has it right, I had the same problem, I tried absolutely everything but the immobiliser often stopped the engine from firing.

Eventually I decided to look at the key circuit board under a powerful magnifying glass and a thin screwdriver. It turns out, one of the legs of one of the IC chips was moving very slightly. I figured this must've been the reason for the immobiliser not reading the key.

It is really difficult to see but if you look at all the connectors coming from the IC chips, you should be able to find a loose/moving joint.

I went over this joint with a fine soldering iron, also going over the other joints just to be sure, and re-assembled the key.

No problems at all since then! And this was about a year ago, I drive the car often and it has never failed to start since. Must be a manufacturing fault from Renault, only it affects nearly every key of similar age!
