Parking brake warning slow to clear

Recently took my 2005 Scenic 1.5dci for an MOT. Upon collection I was told it only failed on one thing, the Handbrake On warning message stayed on when they drove out the test centre. I said it always did that but reverted to the trip meter and mileage after 50 -60 yards. To their credit they let me drive the car a short distance and return to show them it had cleared and they gave me my MOT, however it is obvious it should clear as soon as the handbrake release sand as the rest of the braking system and warning is (currently) behaving itself does this indicate an impending disaster or something can can easily be fixed with a code reader?
