I would have thought it would be easier to replace the headlamp units in the long run.
They will be cheaper in France than in the UK anyway, and at least you know the angle will be correct, so the car will legally pass the French equivalent of the MOT.
Changing reflectors etc in your old headlamps could be more trouble than its worth, you will probably never be able to seal them again properly and they will condensate and let water in, etc. causing corrosion and other problems which would mean you have to buy new lamps anyway.
i would have thought you could pick up some secondhand units on the net. After all you have the whole of Europe to choose from, there are loads more lhd versions around.
