Hi there, I presume when you mean 'import' you mean a car not to UK spec? I would doubt (for example) if it were a Southern-Ireland spec (another right-hand drive country), that the door lock position would differ (my Vel Satis has the emergency lock on the passenger door). Speedometer in Km/Hr would be another giveaway.
Your dealer will be able to confirm all this by running your chassis number through their computer.
Manufacturers do carry out changes (some significant, some more subtle) throughout a model's lifespan, so that could explain this difference.
Another possibility is the mis-build - I had a Ka which had a couple of spec anomalies, the grille was from a lower-spec model (changed under warranty), the rear coat hook also should have been on driver's side, but was on passenger's side (lhd set-up), warranty did not pay for that change.
A last point worth noting is that if you had a non-UK car, you would have only had a 2 year warranty, not the 3-year UK cover.
Hope some of this helps to put your mind to ease.
