Hello and welcome to the forum.

I guess that'll be the 2.2 dCi engine?.

I would seriously consider an aftermarket warranty that would take the sting out of any large repair bills.I'm sure you've read on the forum that the turbo 's can be a weak spot, and if they go it can be horrendously expensive to put right.Renault will make a contribution in certain circumstances, although I'm not sure what the criteria are.

The Espace is certaintly a handsome beast and seems to give few other major problems, and if you buy carefully, change the oil every 6 or 9000 miles as opposed the the ridiculously long intervals given by Renault, this should reduce the chances of any turbo problems. If you can find one with a new turbo already fitted, and you use the reduced oil change intervals then you should be onto a winner.

Because of the design of many people carriers the repair bills for engine and gearbox work will be expensive as everything is so awkward to get to,so Renault are not alone in having high servicing/repair costs.Avoid main dealers for repair work and find yourself a good independant Renault specialist and you will save hundreds of pounds.

What other alternatives have you looked at?.I will endevour to give you some info on them if I can.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
