2006 Scenic - Tps (throttle Position Sensor) Problem

My car has been cutting out recently for no reason. On taking to a local independent garage, they have advised that the problem is with the TPS Sensor and that there is an intermittent signal. They have advised that they are unable to fix the problem and that I would have to go to a Renault main dealer and would be looking at a cost of 380 + vat plus labour.

Has anyone experienced this sort of problem? Is it renowned for Scenics to have this problem? Would you say that 380 + vat for the parts is a reasonable cost?

Would welcome advise
