Ok I'll go first...
Don't know much about immobilisers, so I'm probably not gonna be able to help you much, but I think that may be the root of your problem.
Batteries don't seem to like sitting around dead-flat, they don't always accept being charged again, and it will certainly have a shorter lifespan. It would be good, if possible, to try your battery on another car, just to check it's ok. Presumably you have made sure your battery terminals are clean and tight? Do the headlights, or any other lights, work? I wonder also about the connections on your starter, and earth lead to the engine. Things seem to corrode more when a car is sitting unused, especially outside.
And another thought - what about the battery in your key-fob? Could that be flat too?
