Never mind! My new mats now installed and fit perfectly. Got them from some place on
, the great Yorkshire trading company (yes really).
OK the car is 3 yes old so I suppose there should be one or two minor niggles. The non-locking fuel filler flap I've mentioned elsewhere, and 'fixed' by buying a lockable cap with keys, as the plastic locking mechanism for the plastic flap is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard really if it worked even.
Next the damaged front speakers also described elsewhere and replaced with Pioneer jobbies which are really much superior to the standard fitted ones, so still well worth doing even if the originals work.
#3. The front passenger headrest is seized.
#4. The rear seat cushion was completely loose as I think I also mentioned before, but was simply due to the hinges being detached, it appears to be deliberately possible so the whole thing can be removed.
#5. The door mirrors can be retracted (by hand) and by so doing I discovered that the left one has been whacked at some point so that the joint between top and bottom halves around the front and where it pivots is split apart and loose. Yesterday I glued the edges back together with Araldite and gaffer tape (the tape mostly to hold the edges together until the Araldite sets). There is also hole in the front large enough to see daylight through so this is currently gaffer taped to hopefully keep the rain out of the mirror electrics.
