Well got myself a new Bosch Silver battery with a 3yr warranty all for £46 from GSF. Fitted it in and all is back to normal. Thanks for the sidelight advice.

Not of advice to others:
- Connect the red terminal first.
- Lightly grease the battery terminals
- You'll need to reenter the radio code for it to work - this was in the front cover of the warranty book.
- You'll have to reset the sunroof and electric windows for one touch (haven't done this yet with the rain).

The hazard switch is still causing me problems. I tried what you said (thanks daveess) but it hasn't helped. It just doesn't stay when pushed down. The switch is £6.46+VAT from Renault, think I might try the instructions here:
