By the way, I'm sorry you think that the blue inserts are confrontational. I shall refrain from using them in this post so you won't be offended. But actually, I have been using that style for years and it emanates from a need to address specific sections of posts in an IT tech forum; I thought it less confusing, but I wouldn't dream of winding anybody up with it.
I'll vouch for you on that one, though it's always struck me as an odd way to post.
It's probably better to drop in and out of quote mode by adding </quote> and <quote> tags (but with right angled brackets) around the text that you want to insert. It makes it a lot easier to post follow-ups to your individual points.
Not trying to teach you to suck eggs or anything
But as usual, your advice is spot on. it's got to be worth anyone's time to spend half an hour on the phone to see if they're in with a chance of making several thousand quid back, even if it is a long shot.
