To find out which one (actually they usually go in two's) just disconnect one at a time and see which one doesn't effect the running of the engine, and that will be the one.

Big problem with coils on these Renaults; all models seem to be suffering. It was suggested recently that the covers over the engine are cuasing them to overheat and fail. It has also been suggested that the cold weather is causing condensation to freeze on them and then stripping the insulation as they thaw out. Take your pick which to believe but it is irrelevant really.

Did the others go in cold weather too? When did they go? As it is over five years old it may be difficult to get RCS backup for replacements but if you have been replacing these throughout its life, you may be able to obtain a goodwill gesture from them on the basis that you were not informed of the existence of this known problem which Renault decided can be prevented by replacing ALL coils the first time the problem showed up. There were some bad batches of coils put on during the build. Worth talking to your dealership if the car has been properly maintained; ask them to approach RCS on your behalf. The answer will be no first time round (I'd bet my willy on that) but you then write to RCS at and hope they will look at it favourably.

Read up on the problem here on this forum... Lots of threads to read. Three in a year is a lot; do you know if the previous owner had the same problem at any time? Also, if Renault replaced any of these and they have gone again, you should not have to pay again as they should be warranted for 12 months.

If you give us some history, we might be able to advise.
