Hi there and welcome to Renault Forums, as far as I am aware all 2000 Lags have an alarm fitted as standard. The alarm is activated when you press the plip key to lock the doors. Can you see what looks like a miniature microphone in the corner of the front windscreen? If so this is part of the alarm sensor. I would lock your car with the key and then rock it and see if anything happens, there is a key to deactivate the alarm system and it is possible your's has been turned off. If you let your nearest Renault Dealer have your REG No they should be able to tell you wether or not an alarm is fitted or not.
