I am an auto electrician and diagnostic specialist. I have seen a few of these faulty dashes. You may be sueprised to hear that they are made by the same company who make the Audi TT dashes! They are infact a marelli dash rebranded Jeager (or the other way around I cant remember fro sure) and the circutry is almost identical to the TT. I think watchdog is the way to go and I have already written to them. As it happens I notified VAG that they had a problem with their dashes and they denied it, watchdog proved me right. I also wrote to Volvo telling them they had a fault with their ETM caused by a software error in the ECU , they too denied it and watchdog proved me right. I have informed Renault that they have a fault with their dash - which surprise surprise they deny - I just hope watchdog prove me right with this one as well. In the mean while if anyone is patient and they want to send me a faulty dash I will try to repair it FOC but I will need it for a couple of weeks. I say this because I think I might know what the fault is but my customers have all payed me for the diagnosis and taken it to Renault for the repair because they cannot spare the car for the time period I need it for.
