Re: Electronic Handbrake will not auto release

Why start a new thread?
We'll lose continuity and repeat answers.

Disconecting the battery will not clear brake fault codes and you've said you've got none showing anyway.
But no, disconnecting the battery wont harm anything else. You will have to reset windows (close window and hold up button for about 10 seconds) and radio code.

I reckon most likely a sensor/switch problem.
Auto release looks for the car being in gear, clutch position and throttle/revs against tilt of car.
If one condition isn't being satisfied, the handbrake will not auto-release
So most likely either, Gear Box the reversing lights work ?OR Clutch position sensor.
Less likely to be throttle if the car is working otherwise.
Unlikely IMO to be a brake module fault if the manual release is working.
I've also seen reports that the manual release switch can cause funnies if faulty.
Could also be a broken wire/connection.
Currently in Dancingdad's garage:
Qashqai 1.6 spark driven, Kia Sedona 2.9 TDI, Scenic II 15DCi 2004 (SORN) not quite RIP.
