Re: Electronic Handbrake will not auto release
On/alongside the clutch pedal, flat rectangular box with a swing arm that moves as the clutch is depressed.
You should also find another, green switch which is the clutch pushed switch.
Wiring to the switches has been suspect in the past and I've seen tales of people with big feet knocking the connectors of.
Worth a quick look in case there's something obvious, wires dangling or similar.
I think the green switch is normally closed and opens when operated so that is easily checked with a multimeter. That's the switch that should allow you to start the engine with the clutch depressed. Don't think it has any effect on handbrake operation as mine won't, so I suspect my switch is duff.
The position sensor is a rotary potentiometer but I don't know the resistances that you would expect.
There may be a third switch at the top of the pedal, similar to the green one. I think that's for cruise control if fitted.
IF reversing lights are working it would suggest that the gear box switch is okay, at least in reverse.
Hope it helps, keep us posted please.
