Just bought a used renault scenic

Hello all,
Just got a scenic 1.4 on a V reg which had a few bits needed doing to get it back to scratch. Almost a job done until I started inspecting the drivers window/electric mirror controls/outdoor temp sensor. I know the temp sensor is behind the drivers mirror somewhere and removed the door card to check out the loom in the door, and noticed the window plug had been disconected, so that was an easy task, but when I got to the mirror switch it had melted completely. I've just been on another website which said there should have been a recall to rectify this problem.
Does anyone know if this is still the case as the recall was in 2008 and I've not had the car from new?
Cheers, Simon

The temp sensor is indeed on the drivers side, IN France. You will find yours on the nearside.
Mirror switches do fail, but IIRC no conflagration issues with the Mk1 Phase 2 that we have. The recall was for the MK2 i think.

Re: Just bought a used renault scenic

If you look at the top left of the webpage click on forums then find scenic and "fire risk door mirror control" is top of the list, Its a long read, I think part of the problem is that on some models the doors lock themselves after a few seconds so loading /unloading people leave a door open to avoid being locked out so a few drops of rain go straight into the switch. I have read it but I dont remember if any models are "immune"

Re: Just bought a used renault scenic

my 2001 scenic was replaced under the recall about 3 years ago why not contact your local renault garage and they should be able to check on their database if yours is included in the recall and if so they should be able to do it for you f o c
