pull each coil in turn and have a look down the wee hole at the end. You could quite clearly see the difference in one of ours that was FUBAR!

Also, if you've got a volt meter try this on each coil to point you in the right direction

I tested the primary winding by connecting the volt meter to the two pins at the top of the coil . Then tested the secondary winding by connecting one lead to the coil (stick it in the hole at the end to connect with the coil ) and the other lead to the bottom pin at the top of the coil IIRC (the one that gives you a reading anyhow). See what figures you get and if there's a significant difference, you'll know which coil /s is/are the problem

the exhaust gas monitoring light has come on. This is an indicator that looks like an engine. The manual says take it to a Renault dealer.
Has anyone any idea what this means? It sounds expensive...

Re: Renault Scenic - Faulty Coils Causing Warning Light(Including General Info)*fixed

I have a 2003 Scenic 1.4 16v and this light has just come on!! Any ideas? Yesterday I had to make a repair to the join in the exhaust after the cat....could this have caused the problem? I also fixed my air-con which was unplugged yesterday. Any help would be great.

Like others have said, I hope this isnt a sign of things to come, earlier the ABS/SERV light also came on but this when out when I unplugged a cable under the car and then plugged in again

Thanks ppl

got the coils out today and 3 looked good, one was very orange and didnt look too good. Would this be the cause of the light coming on??

Thanks
