Follow this post.

Help

May be a similar problem.

It could be a bad batch of fuel or water from petrol station fuel tanks.
Do you live near each other by any chance.
Ask the question, you never know.

All done with the 14,99 bit of kit I got from ebay (elm-327-car-diagnostics-usb-to-vagcom-fault-code-cable)

Sorry to dig up an old post, but I have the same car and the same issue, tried everything to get the toxic emissions light to go out. Can you tell me what part you replace, was it the MAP or the throttle body or something else? Thanks.

Re: Renault Scenic - Faulty Coils Causing Warning Light(Including General Info)*fixed

hi all im new here, only had my megane scenic 3 weeks

its just a cheap runaround so when i noticed emmisions light and service light on the next day after buying i thought prob just coils

well its a high mileage 2005 scenic 1.6 auto,ex motability car so full history(why i bought it)

when i bought the car i knew it had been stood months so when the lights went off i thought there is the prob

its ran, i presume sweet for the last 2 weeks until today
(i say presume)
as im used to a 2.4 litre abarth ..very nippy. i wasnt over happy with what i thought was not a very nippy car.pretty slow

as i said the car seems sluggish but im not sure if its coz im used to faster cars

my megane engine seems to run very sweet, you can hardly hear it fire up,its isnt lumpy or knocking.

now when u get a bad coil it affects the engine which makes is sound rough

question
is there anywhere to look which brings these warning lights on without it being the coilpacks?

or
could it be the coil packs which is why the car not only seems a bit flat but is...without it sounding like its running on 3 pots?

thanks for any replies
nice to chat to you all jay

Just want to thank all those that gave out some very helpful info in sorting out the coils on my car, saved a fortune by not having to go to the dealer.
The car was running, or not, on what I thought were just 3 pots, suspected a lead or plug but upon reading this thread changed a coil 31.88 from the local motor factor, Took about 10 minutes and hey presto running in all four again

I have also just run into the coil problem. Driving home the other morning after work. Stopped at some lights, starting to go misfire and juddered...
Limp it a mile and the emissions light came on, so pulled over turned the car off and started up again. Limped it home with no more lights. Phoned rac and all the pc could say was a disruptive misfire, so bad to old school mechanics and done the injector trick and 2,3,4 wanted to cut out. They carry spare coils on the van for 42.99, so now I know what I am doing in future it will be cheaper for me!!
