Not sure if this is answer to your issue, but had this a few times, and was a pencil coil breakdown. These coils are fitted one over each spark plug, I just removed all 4 and the faulty one has a strong electronic burning smell, replaced this and all was Ok. Happened again a few months later, bought a set of 4 new coilds off ebay , (ones with 2 yewar guarantee), and never a repeat yet. If this is the issue, this is a common fault. If not, sorry to waste your time.

Unhappy Re: Renault Scenic - Faulty Coils Causing Warning Light(Including General Info)*fixed

My wife had the same problem on our 2001 scenic 1.6 petrol. Driving down to Stansted Airport and light came on and started losing power. Limped it into the car park and called AA when she got back Monday eve. AA said showing coils and got it towed back home. Bought new plugs & 4 new coils , had my local garage fit them but still showing fault. Now garage is saying no compression on no.1 cylinder....oh joy of joys. Luckily the garage I bought it off won't charge me labour to fix the problem.....first time I have bought a Renault and definitely the last!!!

The last thing in the world you would ever expect is a problem with a 12 year old car.

I know you get problems, but only had the bloomin' thing 4 weeks, luckily got some warranty with it and the garage I bought it from won't chg me labour otherwise it might not have been worth getting it fixed.

Best cure for Lamda sensor fault is to disconnect battery and leave it to reset itself overnight..
