Re: Renault Scenic - Faulty Coils Causing Warning Light(Including General Info)*fixed

Lol my rubbish Scenic ran like a dog just before Christmas, turned out only one coil had been replaced. Was told I needed to replace that one again and it's pair, plus a new aux belt - 120. Used to stall at traffic lights/junctions, and when parking the thing. It was fine for a few weeks then occasionally started stalling again. As it happens, before that problem got too much worse, the new aux belt shredded and fouled the cam belt. Sold to neighbour for spares/repair at a 75% loss. Good riddance....

My 10 year old is much better

Re: Renault Scenic - Faulty Coils Causing Warning Light(Including General Info)*fixed

hello all

ive having the same problem as everyone on here but am not sure what it could be.

the wifey got some petrol then all of a sudden, around 1 mile down the road, all the same things happend, lost of power and eatting the fuel and the yellow light came on, took it to my mate garage and he puzzled on what it could be.

he took all the plugs out of each coil one by one and the engine wanted to stall

ive noticed a funny smell when this happend and told that would of been the fuel, when i stop the car, the warning light goes off, ill drive it for a minute and the light goes on, but the loss of power, cluggy sluggy drive still goes on, ive notice that the petrol just goes, we put 15 pound it in and it had gone with in 2 hours

can this be the coils or something else, spark plugs look ok as well. all help is welcome before i start ordering stuff

thank you

oh and the fault code is 200

hi folks, what's worse than a fault when you are i) not mechanically minded ii) broke ?

when it's the vehicle you have borrowed from the father-in-law

it would appear from reading the above posts that we have a coil issue as the vehicle seems to be running on reduced cylinders (ironically a similar problem to our Rangey which is why we had borrowed the vehicle!)

despite being completely useless at such i am going to attempt simple diagnostic and repair but wondered if anyone could provide an "idiot diagram" or copy page from a manual?

Help !!!
My Dad bought a set of coils about 6 weeks ago, I changed all 4 (1.4 16v Scenic 2005), Renault told him they were faulty.
car has done less than 100 miles since. I have driven about 20 miles this week,
Started the car this morning with great difficulty, starts but then cuts out straight away unless you give it some welly. Drove about 200 yards and The dash lit up like a xmas tree..."check emissions" - "Service" - "engine light", car serviced about 5k miles ago, but dealer did not change plugs or air filter ??? Filter has been changed when i did coils and i checked the plugs the same time.
Engine is a little juddery, but will not rev much above 4000rpm. Any ideas.
One other thing if you leave it idling it stinks like rotten eggs just before it stalls.

more detail, car is now stalling at low revs.
If i unplug the vac pipe from the "purge solenoid" it runs much better, but is still juddery and using loads of fuel...

Any Ideas
