Unplugging that allows air into the system, which confirms the overfuelling diagnosis.

If you are sure the plugs are OK, (I would replace anyway), then Throttle body off & a good CAREFUL clean, pay attention to the sealing ring too. There are lots of threads which describe this. Whilst yer in there, check integrity of wiring, connectors, fuse box under the battery, ECU plugs for damp / corrosion. Get the diagnostics read, but do have an expert interpret the results. For instance Lambda / O2 sensor WILL show, but it's only doing that coz It's too rich.

One other thing if you leave it idling it stinks like rotten eggs just before it stalls.
This suggests to me sticky TB.
My faultfinding tip "do the cheapest, easiest things first"
Other "experts" will be along soon.

Ok Bit the bullet and called out Auto Rescue, Maxiscan results are Cylinder 1 missfire

The guy is pretty sure its a faulty plug or coil pack, even though coils are new he says could have a faulty one. Suggested changing plugs, and if its still the same replace coil on cylinder 1.

Does this sound right, the rescue guy really didn't fill me with confidence...

Update:
Changed plugs, still misfiring on Cyl 1, Turns out new coils supplied have a faulty one in the set, replaced with one of the old ones removed and car runs like a good un, although still a bit stubborn on start needs a little throttle when cold, but runs ok after about 30 seconds
