Re: Renault Scenic I - Heater Fan Fix

Excellent thread, just wanted to share my experience.

I too had no heating on levels 1, 2 or 3, only 4 was working so I popped down to Maplins and purchased a 89p Thermal fuse.

Although the photos were slightly different when I got to the resistor, it was close enough so was a huge help.

I took out the resistor and tested the fuse and it worked. That stumped me, I didn't have a new resistor to replace it with so I put the car back together. I too popped out the left passenger vent to help reposition the ducting.

Once back together the fan worked on all levels. Occasionally disconnecting and reconecting the wiring does the trick. Just like turning the computer off and on again often fixes the problem.

Although I won't be returning the Thermal fuse, cost me more in petrol, technically this was a free fix!!

Re: Renault Scenic I - Heater Fan Fix

First of all, great thread.
I've been having a right old battle with mine today.
Took all the dash out to get to the thermal fuse, went and bought a new one from Maplin.
Got back and soldered it in, fitted back to the car and...... it didnt work
Then i thought of soldering in a single piece of wire to bridge the 2 pins for the thermal fuse.... Still the same
My heater works like this:
Turning to the right, 1,2,3 dont work, 4 does work.
Turning to the left (recirculate) 1,2 dont work, 3,4 works
Could it be a problem with the fan switch?
If anyone could shed some light on this i'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ade.

Re: Renault Scenic I - Heater Fan Fix

Useful thread, but desperate attempt at repair and reaching out to resistor set led to some other problem.
Now, my side mirrors controller, radio, clock display, heater fan display is not working.
But I can see light on display(It is not blank) but readings is not there. If I press Ac button, different vent setting buttons, now no yellow light turns on, as it used to be. But my cigarette lighter is working. Can anyone suggest me whats the potential cause. Thanks a lot.

Check if fuse 6 has blown in dash fuses.

Re: Renault Scenic I - Heater Fan Fix

Hi, thanks for the reply. I haven't got time to check things again since I last posted but I hope this would be the only problem.
