WHAT! You had the Timing belt Tensioner replaced but not the Belt itself?! Or am I wrong and have misread your description?

If that is the senario then you may end up having much more damage done when the timing belt snaps..

If the timing belt (cambelt) tension is released in anyway.. Then the Belt MUST be replaced.. You must not re-tension it and then expect the belt to last..

Angry Re: Renault Scenic - Engines - Timing Tensioner Failure

Hellish day today. On the way to work, my Scenic juddered to a halt and I phoned the AA. Everything works but the negine will not fire. AA chap says there is a compression problem, he couldn't fix it. He says the timing belt/chain is intact but one of the "cams" it's hooked around is not working. We towewd it to my local garage, who had just closed for New Year and reopens on 4th Jan. As we pushed it into a parking bay, I slipped and went face first into a huge mud puddle. Just finished my day off fine. Just wondering if this a BIG repair or something reasonable. When you push the starter button it just whirrs but does nothing else. Worst thing is I drive for work and no work no pay. Sounds a lot like this problem
