I think you'll be lucky to find many if any cars in the mid range/family bracket that dont lose more than that ... I'm sure I read that S-Max is only projected at a 42% return after 3 years and 36K miles

Food for thought

Why is it the older I get .... the better I think I was ?

There seems to be a big difference in fuel economy between the 1.5 and 1.9. Our 1.9 won't get close to the 50-55mpg reported by the 1.5 owners on here. We're getting about 39 around town and 42-45 on a run, with an average on the computer at the moment of 40.2

Still not bad for a big old tank that can shift if you need it to, but my old Mondeo diesel which wasn't much lighter could easily achieve 50 with an engine designed when a bloke called Noah was thinking about building a big boat....

Mind you, no comparison on refinement or grunt.

1,6 underpowered

I have an 04 Scenic and find it underpowered and tiresome.

I therefore advis the 2.0 as the GS will be heavier.
Also depends on you type of driving. Fully loaded with lots of hillls would not be pleasant in my Scenic.

Hope this helps

I dont think you can have too much power HA HA

I would strongly recommend the 1.9dci, it's fantastic on long journeys. But I still prefer my corsa for driving in town.
