Renault Scenic - Electronics - How To - Connect an Ipod to Cabasse Auditorium Stereo

I originally found these pics on planet Renault. The Cabasse Auditorium head unit does have an aux-in function, but it's not at the back of the head unit - in fact it's in the boot!

Because you have the 6-cd changer in the head unit itself, it has been necessary to locate the electronics (amplifier and tuner etc) in a unit elsewhere in the car. On the Grand Scenic it is behind the right hand side cover in the boot area. To get to the unit, remove the luggage cover, remove the torx screw on the luggage cover plastic support and the other torx screw at the opposite end of this piece of plastic. The carpeted side panel can then be removed and behind it (just near the backside of the petrol filler cap - you will find the electronics unit for the cabasse.

The pictures i've uploaded (from planet Renault) make it pretty obvious what you need to do (even if your french is not so hot) :)

Take a PC cd-rom audio cable - and with a little help from a soldering iron, connect it up to a long enough cable that terminates in a 3.5mm jack socket. The cd-rom end needs to be plugged into the red 15-pin connector; on the following pins:

27 - Common Ground
28 - Right signal
30 - Left signal

You then need to root this cable through from the boot to the dash. I found the easiest place to run cables was under the footplates (tip - start removing these from the back of the car forwards, and be careful - they crack easily and are expensive!!!!) :(

Good luck!

Excellent post.

For my laguna II I bought a very naughty FM transmitter which plugs into the 12v socket in the mobile phone cubby hole but between the front seats.

This means that I transmit my very own pirate radio ( very short range ) and simply tune my stereo into one of four fm channels to receive the audio from my IPod.

Just fitted it

I've only just fitted it myself, took about 90 mins start to finish and works very well!

One important point, when you take your PC cdrom cable - if it has a small and a larger connector, it is the *larger* one that you use (and this may not be white!) you also may need to snip the retaining clip off using a pair of wire cutters.

Still - it's good practise to solder it all up with nice heat-shrink wrapped joints and the smaller connector before realising your mistake

holy moly it worked!!!

thanks kleen it worked a treat  i now have full audio on my dvd player through the cabasse system, tho the connections were 27,28 and 30.
i have connected an indash dvd to the underside of the gps unit in the glove box and i used the audio pre amp directly into the boot (opposite the fuel on the espace). It took no time at all thanks again matey..Nye

Thank you.

After a lot of searching for a solution, I came across this thread. I have now connected my ipod to my 53 Laguna estate and can't thank you enough for the information. The wire and connectors cost £10 from maplin, but I actually used the jack off an old pair of headphones which made life easier. :)

Hi there. When I first wired mine up there was only sound coming out of one side. When I read the details of how to do it again I had one of the connections at the amp end wrong. When I changed it to 27,28 and 30 I got audio from both sides. Read the thread with the red sad face.

iPod connection for Cabasse 6-CD changer

Hi - my first post. Thanks for a great forum and to all the good people who have posted such useful information!

I have a Laguna II phase 2 dci150 Initiale 2007 with a Cabasse 6-CD changer and integrated Bluetooth nav-com. This is different from the unit described in the previous post though the AUX-in connections may well be the same. (Renault show four similar but different Cabasse units in the 2007 Laguna brochure.) My problem is that there is no "Expert" button on my head unit, nor does there seem to be any other way to select an AUX input. The head unit has CD, AM/FM and MODE buttons. These all do what they are meant to do but no amount of pressing and holding or pressing buttons in combination will squeeze any extra functionality out of them. There is also a joystick control. The "set" button brings up a menu that includes audio settings - but, again, no AUX input selection.

I can think of three possibilities: 1 - there is no AUX input, 2 - selecting AUX requires some obscure button pressing that I haven't discovered, 3 - a link can be fitted somewhere to tell the head unit that AUX is available. Does anyone have experience of this system? I don't mind taking the car to bits to run wiring etc. but it seems a bit pointless to start unless I know how to select AUX.

I've attached some pictures to aid identification of my unit. (The CD changer is in the Cabasse head unit. Mounted above that is the DVD reader for the nav system.) Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hello, this is my first post. I was monitoring this forum for quite some time now, but I always found an answer ... except this.

I have the cabbasse system, and with that the package for mobile phone hands fre. (i think)

I would like to connect my phone ANDROID (nexus one) speakers and power USB input.

Deas anyone know which wire is which.
I think the power is the silver one (it's bellow the connectors)

But for speaker I have no IDEA.

Even if I connect an USB to power I have no idea how to. + and - maybe ground to 4 connectors on USB????

Any thoughts!
