Hello, this my first post. Renault Scenic 1.6 16v Expression cam belt change by local dealer (24 miles away) was 250, 100 cheaper than the other two local dealers, pays to shop about. My mate who normally services the car at his BMW, SAAB garage!!! hmm well could not buy the parts for that as he has to have specialst renault tools to do the job properly. I strongly advise anyone not to ignore this procedure though as a bust cam belt will spell the end of your cars useful life, not a nice experience. My dealer for price check is Blackler 01626201201, they even washed and vacuumed the car too along with doing a full safety check and report. Better than my Ford dealer who have returned my mondeo in a dirtier state than handed over even though they had been given 6K by the insurance company to put it back together, New Espace on order.

Mine was faulty, gave the symptoms of the car sounding like a lawn mower for the first three or four seconds on startup. I visited the Renault dealer last week and left the car for 1 day. They changed camshaft pulley, timing belt, etc... in guarantee. Although I didn't pay for anything the invoice shows that the work is done about £400.

2 weeks ago Cambelt kit replaced & water pump

car done 61k mint only done miles on motorway

Work done at Warwickshire County Fleet Maintenance - they service Police/Fire/Ambulance vehicles

387 inc VAT using genuine parts

their normal labour rate is only 34.50 per hour but they add 20% on for cambelt changes

always get the w/pump done

can do it a lot cheaper if you get parts off GSF

im currently working on my scenic 1.6 k4j engine.

Im in the middle of putting my timing belt on, ive used the special tools, the bottom crank shat lock pin tool is insterted i turned the crank clockwise and it stops where the pin is insterted. but at the top of the engine the camshaft ends are not horizontal like the book says

its had a belt before, is the timing wrong, or have i put the pin in wrong?

thanks for looking
