Re: Renault Scenic - Details On Replacing RX4 Prop Bearings

You can add me to those with prop problems on an RX4, mine being a 2001 Salomon Edition 1.9dCi.
Bought privately a few months ago, with Renault service history which included a recent replacement clutch, g/box, cambelt and rear shocks.
However, the tell-tale prop vibration is there, although I've no idea yet whether it's the doughnut coupling or a U/J. I'll check this when things warm up a little...

Re: Renault Scenic - Details On Replacing RX4 Prop Bearings

In 2011 my 2002 RX4 DCi prop shaft began to fail at 84k with the front bearing becoming increasingly noisy and audible in the cabin. I'd already removed the vibration damper way before this point due to intolerable vibration. Replaced whole shaft with a Dave Mac upgrade with lovely results due to unservicable nature of Renaults rubbish original.

Hello , yep , i have got a prop-shaft problem . the front centre bearing is no good , i was told that on these prop-shafts you have to heat up the part of the prop at the side of the bearing, in order to expand it , to part the joint . does any body know if that is rite
