Re: Renault Scenic 1 - Boot Lock Button Fix

I can't belive Renault don't know that there is a problem with the boot lock plunger falling out!

As already mentioned there is some one on Ebay who sells a repair kit with a new button. I have used one on my 2001 Scenic at £19 it was a dam sight cheaper than buying a full boot lock mehanism. The quality wasn't particulary good and only lasted 3 or 4 months before the replacement button broke.

I have now replaced the complete boot lock mechanism from an earlier 1998 Scenic which externaly looks the same as the later Scenic however it looks to me as the earlier locks are much stronger as they appear to be a far more robust internal design.

Re: Renault Scenic 1 - Boot Lock Button Fix

This is going to sound crazy but we managed to fix it with a small safety pin (bent to shape but still using the original curl of the pin). It was pretty easy to get to the lock and see what needed to be done. We didn't expect it to last long but that was 18 monhs ago.

Re: Renault Scenic 1 - Boot Lock Button Fix

Hi All,

I'm facing the same problem. The button is still there but no electrical contact to release the lock.

When using the door unlock button from inside of the car...........still cannot unlock the boot.

Could it be faulty components or no electrical contact?

Try disconnecting the battery...??

This was posted in another forum and seems to work..

Apparently, the "computer" loses its way, disconect for 5mins, this will reset it !!
(dont forget you need your radio code)

Then the boot should work !!

Re: Renault Scenic 1 - Boot Lock Button Fix

Just bought a Scénic from auction with no boot button. But luckily found it in the little drinks cooler box

My problem was the common issue of the little rubber ring being missing.

Went to Halfords, to their little oddment section at the back. Got their little packet of SMALL assorted O-Rings (£1.69). Took the smallest one out of it, wrapped it over the end of the pin TWICE. It must be twice, it won't go in after just sliding it on as the rubber is too thick.

Line it up, tap (or whack) with a hammer and it should pop in to where it should be! Very happy with this easy fix, all thanks to a search on this forum.

Hope this helps further!
