Smile faulty renault dash

the more i read these forums, the more im convinced that renault just dont give a damn about there customers problems, world wide they have a reputation of bad servicing, lets be honest, most of there cars are rubbish, ive never known so many electrical problems to exist in a car, except for the electricals, and there automatics, they seem to go okay, but who wants to buy a car thats got such a bad reputation for electrical and automatic trans problems, a dealer told me they are the car no one wants to buy second hand, they usualy end up in auction places, how true, new here they are 42000 bucks, for scenics, second hand from 3500 for early phase 2, to 17000 for last years model, thas a lot of depreciation,if u can find a buyer. Renault need to pay attention, start looking after there customers problems, and lower the cost of parts as well, that way, they may get buyers reinvesting in them, repeat customers is what they need to attract.

I have a 2004 Scenic II and encountered the flickering dash display and yesterday the dash display died completely.

Have spoken to one garage who said changing the spark plugs might rectify the problem as one brand in particular can cause "spikes". He says this has worked in the past. If this isn't the case then a new instrument cluster will be required and he quoted 210

I'll let you know after I take the car in tomorrow although I'm not too hopeful of the spark plus solution

Well this thread has made interesting reading, mine went out today. I stopped the engine and removed the card. then started up but still no display. When I got back to the car at lunch time it was back again. I've taken a note of the mileage just in case but who's gonna believe me when i can afford to sell. Surely this can be fixed as I've heard of a company doing exchange display's. It must be an earth problem as even the indicator clicking noise stops but the indicators still actually work, it's kind of amusing having a little speaker thing to make the noise of a flasher relay.

How do you get the surround out to access the display it's self?

Smile Blinking digy dash "where to look"

If any of you have experience at soldering using a microscope to work, the dry joint is located under the servicing spanner indicator! so re flow the joints to the drivers ( the square components ) within 1square inch of the spanner,
I worked on the board an hour a day for 4 weeks before I found a car electrician that told me where to look it .
He said " 9 times out of ten the faults there"

worked first time saved me 410 for the board and 89 for programming

PS just ditched the Renault part ex for a Toyota HAPPY DAYs BYE BYE
