Question Renault - Scenic - Starting Problem *fixed*

we run a v reg 2000 1.6 alise auto which has an intermittent fault on starting,
the engine spins over but wont fire, leave it a few seconds and it may start,
weve had it to an auto electrician but its allways behaved itself, only to give us problems again later.
has anyone else suffered similar problems, we thought ecu , alarm, etc but cant find problem.

Had exactly the same problem would not show up when car scanned by dealer. Very frustrating as would only happen intermittently when I was driving. Mechanic said it had happened on another scenic and replaced the cam-shaft sensor, had no problems since.
Currently in tonybristol's garage:

Thumbs up Re: Renault - Scenic - Starting Problem *fixed*

Just to verify...Had exact same problem ,failing to start intermittently, got the answer here....Thanks.
TDC sensor was the problem, removed, cleaned and replaced .....working a treat ever since.

I was suprised by the fact that it wasn't that dirty to begin with and also that there were only a few iron filings present on the sensor tip.Must be very sensitive.
