Hi echase,

Great post. Two quick questions: What value of power resistors did you use (in ohms)? How do you remove the selector switch?

Thanks

You don***8217;t permanently remove the fan switch. Just get behind it by unclipping the dashboard in that area to reach the wires behind. Haynes manual says how, also helpul to see the wiring diagram in it. Might involve taking surround off around gearlever first to reach some screws in facia.

I don***8217;t now remember the exact resistor values but could look them up, they mirror the ones used in the Renault version. 100W is safe as long as adequate heatsinking is used. With 50W the design is fairly marginal and will get pretty hot but it***8217;s safe if you use right heatsink and mounting to keep it away from other wires etc that could be heat damaged.

My prototype poured smoke from resistors when less than 50W with a small heatsink.

Thanks echase! Really helpful again. Out of interest, where did you buy your resistors from? When I looked at CPC they were about 5 each! I was thinking of a 0.5C/W heatsink quite expensive (25) but seems to offer the heat dissipation required.
