Wink Renault Scenic II - Sunroof Disabled At Low Temperature

Noticed today that my Scenic II panoramic sunroof would not open. Moving switch / holding down override button had absolutely no effect. Then a little bit of thought made me wonder if the roof was disabled at low temps (its only 2 degrees today). Holding a finger on the outside temp bulb (under wing mirror) until 6deg showed on display, and then sunroof immediately opened on command. Have checked my 53 plate car handbook cover to cover, this site and Haynes manual etc - no reference to this characteristic anywhere. Presume the feature is designed to prevent either a 'frozen ' roof / seal being damaged on opening, or to prevent sheets of ice from falling into the car. Decided to post this in case anyone else tries to troubleshoot a "failed" roof during the winter.

Your conclusion does make sense as if the roof is frozen to the seals it could damage either the seal, the roof or the motor.

I've not heard of this system being used before, but it does seem to add up..Thanks for taking the time to post it here,I've moved it to the Scenic Knowledge Base for future reference.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
