Just to add one point, when you change a halogen bulb never touch the glass part as the grease on your fingers(even if you have clean hands) will cause the bulb to expode when it gets hot(and they do get bl##dy hot!).Hope this doesn't patronise anyone but there are lots of headlamp bulbs that are a pig to change(not just Renaults),so it's a job you don't want to be doing unneccessarily!.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

I've replaced my headlight bulbs on my Scenic II with Philips Vision plus headlight bulbs. They're advertised as being 50% brighter then the standard bulbs - I do notice a difference especially on unlit roads, can't say whether there 50% brighter though but I think it is a sensible mod.

Fitting them is not easy but I changed both bulbs in about 30mins, using the instruction in this thread (thanks). If you do this be careful, I could not avoid a few scratches.

The bulbs themselves cost £16 delivered off ebay , you need to go for the H7 type.

Just visited my Renault dealer and had a quote for this headlight bulb replacement work.

"Drop the car in it will take 15 minutes, while you wait have a coffee and that will be £23.50 including VAT"

So, should I pay £23.50, drink as much coffe as possible and nick all the sugar sachets/spoons etc
should I pay H*lfords £11.00 for a bulb and skin all my knuckles?

Wife is taking car to Mr Renault in the morning.

It's now the evening after the event. Bulb replaced £23.50p inc VAT. She (Wifey) didn't nick anything at all. But managed to read an interesting article about Big Brother (Yawn).

Scenic headlight change

First time I've posted but thought I'd pass on some info I had from the Arnold Clark Renault dealer in St. Helens, Merseyside which is near to where I live.

To replace & fit the headlight bulb they want 40.54 inc VAT for a 30 minute job. The bulb itself is around 10 and that's for the standard Halogen bulb. If it's for a Xenon bulb I was quoted 144 each! And that's not fitted!

I asked about the windscreen wipers and was advised that they are around 25 each! Does anyone know if you can get these cheaper anywhere else as I'll be blowed if I'm paying 50 for 2 wiper blades!

All I can say is that at least **** Turpin wore a mask before he robbed!

Re your wiper price, IIRC that is roughly the price I paid for them although if you search, you will see I already have a thread on this subject as they charged my wife double ie. they though the 50 quid was for each wiper, not the set!
