It is only available on certain models of the Megane/Scenic and available as an extra cost option. As far as I know it is only standard on the Privilege MEgane/Scenic as standard and optional extras on the other models. As with all things just because the manual says it it there and it looks like you have the features on the car it is not necessarily true.

Good point ST! I'd assumed that if the black squares are there, the system is installed, but I suppose it's probably cheaper to make a standard door (with the sensor hole cut in it) and then they have to do it with something.

If handsfree is not enabled on the car, then there's no disadvantage to having selective locking enabled, and it can be a positive advantage when the driver is alone in a dodgy area. By unlocking just the driver's door, you ensure that nobody can jump in the back or passenger seat, radically reducing your chances of being mugged or car-jacked.

That is, of course, assuming that they actually do selective unlocking on the Megane. I believe all of the Lagunas are capable of it, and being a later design, you'd think this would be the case with the Megane. But then you know Renault... inconsistency would be their middle name if they had room for one.
