Re: anyone from sheffield or south yorkshire spotted a montego

They were brought to market way too early, and under-developed all it's life.

Remember, this is the company that launched the Mini in 1959 and apart from moving the wheel size from 10" to 12" and switching from sliding windows to windy ones - did sweet fa until it eventually died of shame some 40 years later.

I remember the Montego (or Montynogo, as my uncle called them) were one of the first cars to have an ecu . This was to be the bane of his ownership, as the car either wouldn't start, or when it did, the dashboard dials would misread completely, and therefore couldn't be trusted. They also had daft metric tyres (for no reason at all) that cost twice as much as regular rubber.

The dashboard could be pulled apart, without any tools whatsoever.

I remember it being quite roomy, and a decent cruiser - but my kids could make a better fist of developing & building a car.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
