Re: anyone from sheffield or south yorkshire spotted a montego
Yeah I'm one of em a 1953 8 horse power Ford Anglia side valve
Added extra's Vacuum windscreen wipers
which went like lightening down hills, but they stopped altogether going back up the bu55ers.
6 volt battery which too often needed the help from the starting handle.
3 speed box, no syncro on first gear, double de-clutching was required.
Those were the day of happy
Most cars pre-90's suffered from noticeable rust after a few years, and seeing cars driving around in the '60's & '70's it wasn't unusual to see cars with huge holes in the wings or valance panels and half the sills rotted out. David Isopon fibre-glass kits and perforated mesh & filler were the usual affordable fix back then
, except for the cowboys who repaired with the papier mache method
My second car was a 8 year old 1957 Vauxhall Victor which turned into a Weetabix virtually overnight
Currently in hondo's garage:
1.6 Valve-Matic SR. Red hot, toasty feet.
