Ah yes, D. dad, I can see the wire on both catches; I know they are spring loaded -its just I dont see what mechanism causes the hooked catch to stay closed. I took photos from either side of the catches to offer best viewing in case somebody else has done this and knows where springs/wires are connected. Possibly its too hard to explain if you know, but the photos might only show from the underside view, which I couldnt capture, as there wasnt enough light - my iphone doesnt have flash.
On those pics you can see the release wire on the side opposite the spring.
Are you saying you can't see it on the other catch?
PS, 74 quid is about an hours work plus parts. Or more expensive parts and half an hours work.
And I was quoting the price from a post from about 2007/8, so I expect its more these days!
