Thats what I was thinking. However when the mechanic decided to glue the gaitor it was because HE was indignant about the notion of having to get a whole new drive shaft and if indeed there was a risk the oil would leak he never explained it to me nor did he find time to monitor his work to make sure the oil level remained sufficient. He was aware of the whine on top gear for weeks before the gearbox failed but kept putting me off when I wanted it sorted out. My vehicle is my livelihood it does a lot of miles and requires a lot of routine and other maintenance and basically he prioritised badly.
Hi i hope you get this sorted out bear in mind iam not a macanic but stop and think and take a deap breath wait for a few more replays to see whats what all the best.
