The log book only registers the keeper not
the owner. Second hand car dealers do this all the time although they are obliged to notify DVLA that they gave taken ownership but they are not
the registered keeper.
If the person is legally disposing of someone elses estate they should clearly say so with documentary supporting evidence. In other words do they have the legal right to dispose of the vehicle and also who is legally entitled to the proceeds??
I know of one case where a dealer was able to buy a 6 month old Jaguar from a widow for only £50 - the car was probably worth £1000 to £15000. He was astounded to say the least and thought it was suspicious or the littlr old lady had lost her marbles. It eventually tuned out her husband had willed the car to his nephew who she hated with a vengance and she thought she had the legal right to sell the car and give him the proceeds.
